Biscuit the jumping rat.
She had her set of 7 babies on 9/24/2004, with Dumpling. Dumpling was gray and white, so it is a complete mystery to me why the babies came out entirely dark brown. Biscuit is known for her jumping talent, and that talent seems to be hereditary! I kept one of the babies (Brownie). She was an excellent rat that ran away and came back to me when I made the "snacky" sound. Biscuit's second set of 12 babies were born 11/22/2004. I called these babies the Beige Dozen. Oatmeal, the daddy rat, looks just like Biscuit, except that he is much bigger, he doesn't jump, and he is much more of a homebody. |

Peanut and Potato Peanut and Potato were great Pals. They often sniffed around on the floor, investigating tiny nothings, and inspecting my shoes. |

Pumpkin Pumpkin and his brother Squash were extremely friendly and mellow. They came promptly when called, and I could go hiking with them while they hung out in my backpack or in my sleeve. I would bring them to parties and sometimes they would nap on my lap. |

Fred Fred was a very friendly hamster with long, uneven hair. He looked like a moving shag rug. At the end of his life I had to trim his teeth myself, so he had an uneven bucktooth look. He lived an astonishing three years and probably died in his sleep. He simply got sleepier and wobblier and took more and more naps. |
